About David de Gernier
My name is David de Gernier. I come from Angus, Scotland, and am now in my eighth decade of life. Yet I am still learning from rivers, forests, mountains and the quiet wisdom of wild places.
I am a retired Jungian psychotherapist and British military veteran. My lifelong journey has taken me through Jungian psychology, nature, Druidry, Shamanism, dowsing, folklore, spirituality and storytelling. My studies and personal practices have been shaped by Druidic traditions, Buddhism, shamanic teachings, herbalism and, above all, a deep reverence for the living world.
But beyond titles and professions, my true home has always been outdoors. The more remote, the better. The Scottish landscape, with its mountains, moorlands, ancient forests, ancient standing stones and sacred site, rivers, wildlife and profound silences, continues to inspire both my inner and outer life.
Walking With Nature is a place to share that continuing journey.
This publication is not simply about observing nature from a distance. It is about living within it, listening attentively to its rhythms, exploring its mysteries and discovering the enduring lessons it has to offer.
Through these writings, I hope to share something of the wonder, stillness and curiosity that the natural world awakens in me, and to encourage a deeper sense of connection with the more-than-human world of which we are all a part.
